Susan E. Daily

Susan Elaine Daily, age 74, passed away peacefully on Thursday May 8, 2025.  She was born to Ruth Lorraine and Dallas Ewing Daily on November 19, 1950, in Syracuse, NY.  She is survived by her sisters, Lynn Hogan (Jim) and Jenny Hopkins (Michael) as well as her nieces, April and Erin (Scott) and her nephews, Patrick and Mike (Caroline) and her great nephews, Miguel and Andy.  

Susan was always adventurous.  She lived in Holland for a time in her earliest years.  She grew up in Ambler, PA.  After she graduated from Wissahickon Sr. High School in 1968, she went to Bard College in NY where she was instrumental in founding the Women's Consciousness raising groups.  What is now known as "Second Wave Feminism".

In 1971 Susan left college for San Francisco and joined the hippe culture there.  From there she came back to live in West Philly.  She worked for the Philadelphia Women's Center and produced a book called "Our Bodies, Ourselves" and wrote poetry, which she read at several venues.  She helped organize an all-female Mummers Parade.  

In 1973 she traveled the Ireland countryside in a horsedrawn tinker's wagon.  She traveled to Germany more recently.  She also lived in NE Philly where she became involved with training giant Schnauzers in the art of Schutzhund, winning several awards.

Being an artist from a young age, Susan worked with charcoal, pastels and in recent years acrylics and watercolors.  The volume of her beautiful and distinctive work was such that she began selling her art online.  

Susan chose jobs that reflected her values.  She worked for many nonprofit organizations bringing in the money they needed to carry on their work as a grant proposal writer.  Susan was a dedicated supporter, through donations, her work, and protest she attended of the rights of the marginalized; lesbians, single mothers and minority women.

She was a strong and intelligent woman.  She survived many betrayals and still stayed sober from June 18, 1979.  This year will be 46 years!
