Ronald F Vellner passed into glory on January 28, 2026, having just celebrated his 95th birthday. He was born January 6, 1931, in Philadelphia to the late Frank Vellner and Giselle (Nagy) Vellner.

Ron graduated from Northeast High School and Temple University, earning a BS in Physical Education and Masters degree in Education.

He was proud to have served in the US Army. He was a combat wounded veteran, Purple Heart recipient, who served in the Korean War.

Following his time in the army, he taught Health and Physical Education and coached baseball at Overbrook HS, Philadelphia, later Northeast HS, Philadelphia, and finished his teaching/coaching career at Central Bucks East HS, Buckingham.

After retiring from teaching, Ron started the Delaware Valley Hypnosis Center, he learned and performed magic, and brought lots of smiles to children as “Scat the Clown”!

During that time he became involved with the Military Order of the Purple Heart. He served as adjutant of PA Chapter 170 for many years advocating for veterans in various ways. He also shared a portion of his military service in articles printed in the Military Magazine. One of his stories, along with personal memorabilia, is housed in the National Purple Heart Museum in New York.

Besides playing tennis into his later years, Ron was an avid golfer. He also enjoyed pencil sketching faces, and painting water colors. He was a “movie buff” and enjoyed music from the big band era. Ron also was a voracious reader and challenged himself daily with cross word puzzles.

His survivors, whom he loved dearly, include: wife of 51 years, Peggy (Richter) Vellner; sons Gregory (Regina), Anthony (Marybeth), Rhett (Allie Mercer) and the late Christopher (Roseanna); daughters: Lisa Righter (George) and Leia Vellner (John Pettibone), 14 grandchildren, and one great grandson

Funeral Service 11:30 AM Tuesday February 10, 2026, at Calvary Chapel Central Bucks County 150 E Butler Ave, Chalfont, PA 18914.  Relatives and friends are invited to his visitation at the Church Tuesday after 11 AM.  Interment at 2:30 PM Tuesday February 10, 2026, at Washington Crossing National Cemetery 830 Highland Road Newtown, PA 18940.
