Renate Hedwig Seyb Michener

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother and Oma, Renate Hedwig Seyb Michener of Dublin, Pennsylvania, on May 25, 2025. She was 85 years old. Oma was a sassy and hard-working woman, who taught us the value of independence, adventure, and that light-hearted misbehavior is good for the soul. She was born in 1940 in Heilbronn, Germany, where she lived through and survived WW2 before immigrating to the United States in 1959. She was a dedicated worker at IGA for more than 30 years. Renate was a collector of knickknacks. She was a talented needle woman. She loved gardening, dancing the polka, the jitterbug, and the twist, saying no to everyone, listening to Elvis and bargaining for the best deal.

Renate is survived by her daughters Angela RoseMarie Grier (J. Michael) and Bonnie Ruth Ransdell (Steve), and her grandchildren, Nathan, Amanda, Sarah, Candace, Aaron, Karlie, Jared and Aaron. She has 13 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.

Relatives and friends are invited to Services at Evangelical Lutheran Church of Durham, 821 Durham Road, Durham, PA, 18039 on Monday June 2, 2025, with visitation beginning 10 am, followed by the funeral service at 11 am. Interment will follow the service in the cemetery at the church.

Rest in peace, Mom. We love you and will miss you always. We all promise to keep your spirit alive within us.
