Patrick J. Boyle, originally from Philadelphia, PA and later of Willow Grove, PA, left us peacefully at his home on August 15th, 2025, at the age of 94. He lived a long and full life marked by devotion to his family, faith, and friends. The beloved husband of Loretta Boyle (nee Steck) and the proud father of Ellen McGrother (Charles), Kathryn Stone (Fran), Maureen Loughlin (Tom) and Patrick Boyle (Trish). Further, the doting grandfather of 6 (Caitlin, Cullen, Kevin, Stephanie, Alyssa, and Brian) and most recently a great grandfather (Iris). Brother of Mary Mangan (Pete), Kathleen Boyle, and Eileen Callahan. As well as countless cousins, nieces and nephews.
Patrick was a 1949 graduate of Northeast Catholic High School, serving the Northeast Catholic Alumni Association throughout his life; serving as President from 1963 through 1966 and later inducted into their Hall of Fame in 2019 in celebration of his long service to the association. He also proudly served our country as a member of the United States Marine Corps. Following his honorable discharge from the Marines, Pat graduated from St. Joseph’s University. This education from The Oblates of Saint Francis, the lessons in leadership and discipline, from the Marine Corps as well as the Jesuit values from Saint Joseph’s formed the man he was to become. He carried these lessons with him throughout his life, instilling them in his family and those who knew him. In his retirement he continued his service to the church by serving as an attendant at the Miraculous Medal Shrine until earlier this year.
A dedicated employee of General Accident, Pat retired after over 35 years of service. An avid sports fan, Pat was a longtime supporter of Notre Dame football; together with longtime friends, made an almost 800 mile trek for an annual weekend pilgrimage to watch their Fighting Irish in South Bend, IN; a tradition that later in life included his family. Also, a season ticket holder to the Philadelphia Eagles from the 1960’s; from Franklin Field to Veterans Stadium to Lincoln Financial Field, a family tradition that continues to this day.
Fiercely proud of his Irish heritage from his parents (Patrick and Bridget of County Donegal), Patrick's life was defined by his love for his family his faith, and the friendships he nurtured over the years. He will be remembered for his warmth, his humor, and his complete and utter inability to ever tell a short story!
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his visitation on Wednesday, August 20th from 9:30 am to 10:30 am followed by a mass of Christian burial at 10:30 am at St. David’s Roman Catholic Church, 316 North Easton Road, Willow Grove, PA. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Northeast Catholic Alumni Association at www.northcatholicalumni.org
