Mary Butera (94), originally from Wyoming, PA, passed away peacefully with family by her side on Jan. 6, 2026, leaving a void her family cannot fill. Mary was the loving wife to Leonard for 47 years, who preceded her in death (2003).

Mary was born in Plains, PA, to the late Joseph and Anna (Timko) Antosh, affectionately known as “Mamie” to everyone.  She attended Sacred Heart School in Wilkes-Barre, PA and graduated from Plains High School.

Mary was the beloved, devoted, and proud mother of her 3 children: Linda (Larry), Cal (Gisela), and John (Laura); her six grandchildren, Amy (Paul), Robert, Sara, Justin, Aaron, and Peter; and her three great-grandchildren, Nico, Jack, and Julia.  They all knew and loved her as “Nana.”

Mary was a phenomenal cook and baker sharing those skills with both her children and grandchildren, and Nana became well-loved for her baking treats. Mary was always known for her keen sense of elegance and fashion, resulting in her going to Beauty School and becoming a Licensed Cosmetologist. With the support of her husband, they built a Beauty Salon from a room at their home, where she worked styling, cutting hair, and caring for friends and family into her 80s.

Mary’s sense of style, her joy, and her love will live in everyone who knew her for many years to come, and she will be fondly missed forever by her family.

Relatives and friends are invited to a calling period from 10 to 11am, on Wednesday, January 14, 2026, at St. Jude’s Church and Shrine, 321 W. Butler Ave., Chalfont, PA 18914, followed by a Funeral Mass at 11am. Interment will be at the convenience of the family at Denison Cemetery, Swoyersville, PA.

In lieu of flowers, please consider buying a book in her memory from The Wyoming Free Library, 358 Wyoming Ave., Wyoming, PA, or purchasing a book in her memory online at:  https://wyoming.luzernelibraries.org/memorials/
