Obituary

Lois Louise Skitt of Chalfont, Pennsylvania was swiftly called home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Friday night, April 10, 2026. Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of Delmont and Mabel Pooley, and younger sister to three doting brothers.

Lois led a full and active life for 93 years. A nurturer at heart, she cared for her home and family; faithfully praying, cooking delicious meals and sending special handwritten notes. The flower gardens around her home were bursting with beautiful blooms from her diligent hands.

Her quilting creativity touched many lives with handmade quilts, including children in need. On the day of her passing, Lois dutifully attended a meeting of the Homemakers Country Quilters. There, she humbly displayed one of her recent projects; a sky-blue, block-quilt for Ronald McDonald House.

Lois was an example of kindness, generosity and devotion while serving her church, choir and through Community Bible Study. Family vacations for the last 55 years included a week of “Vacation on Purpose” at Camp of the Woods in the Adirondack Mountains of New York state. There, Lois would continue to learn from God’s Word while relaxing by Lake Pleasant, walking nearby trails and enjoying a scoop of Moose Tracks ice cream at the snack shop.

Lois is survived by her sons James B. Skitt III (husband of Susan Skitt) and David D. Skitt (husband of Jennifer Skitt), son-in-law John A. Bonck, her grandchildren John Allen Bonck (husband of Dustin Almon), Leigh Ann Kelly (wife of Scott Kelly), Carolyn Bonck (wife of Victor Di Noia), Jared Skitt (husband of Carissa Skitt), and Joel Skitt and her six great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband James B. Skitt Jr. (1970), her daughter Diane L. Bonck (2023), her parents, and her brothers, Delmont, Walter, and Vernon.

Her resilience and faith have left an enduring legacy that will not be forgotten.

A private burial is planned with a Celebration of Life Memorial Service to be announced. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Lois’ name to Gospel Volunteers (Camp of the Woods), (www.camp-of-the-woods.org/give) or Ronald McDonald House (www.ronaldmcdonaldhouse.org).
