Judith Anne McElderry (née Durkin), 79, passed away peacefully on May 17, 2026.
Born in Bryn Mawr on April 26, 1947, Judith was the beloved daughter of the late Richard F. and Hannah Durkin. A 1965 graduate of Archbishop Prendergast High School, she carried throughout her life a deep appreciation for learning, creativity, family, and tradition.
Judith is survived by her husband, John “Jack” McElderry; daughters Gwen Raifsnider (Mark) and Vicki Harpster (Keith); and stepchildren Maureen Chapman (Mark), Jim McElderry (Rene), Michele McElderry, and Claire McElderry (Ed McGovern). She was a proud and loving grandmother to Allie Eudy (Taylor), Adam Raifsnider, Madison Harpster, Deven Harpster, Taryn Fuxa (Adam), and Tammy Chapman and cherished her great-grandchildren Bennett Eudy and Wylie Chamberlain.
She was predeceased by her brother, the late Richard M. Durkin and nephew Richard M. Durkin Jr., and is also survived by her nieces Camille Durkin, Sally Durkin, Pam Courtney, and Lacy Sparks, as well as many extended family members and dear friends.
Judith was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and found joy in life’s simple and creative pleasures. She loved gardening, painting, needlework, and genealogy research and she shared those passions generously with those around her. Her warmth, creativity, and quiet strength will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Memorial Service at Wesley Enhanced Living 200 Veterans Lane, Doylestown, PA 18901, on May 28th at 2:30pm. A private family burial will be held at a later date at Washington Crossing National Cemetery.
