John Convey Jr. passed away on October 19, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family.
Born on April 27, 1955, in Philadelphia, John was the son of the late John and Edna Convey. He had many fond memories of his childhood, but what stood out most were the summers spent on the bay in Wildwood, New Jersey, where he and his siblings vacationed each year. He loved sharing stories of working at Morey's Pier as a ride operator and selling hot dogs. Those memories always brought a smile to his face.
John was a private man, known for his determination and strong will. Those who loved him knew he could be stubborn at times, but that same determination helped him overcome obstacles and achieve his goals. He worked countless weekends, night shifts, and long hours throughout his career, driven by a deep sense of responsibility and pride in providing for his family. Passionate about everything he did, John gave his whole heart to both his profession and his family. Over time, he learned to balance the demands of work with what mattered most, focusing his energy on family, faith, and creating memories with those he loved.
John began his career at The Budd Company as an apprentice and later served as a union representative. Driven by a lifelong dream of becoming an engineer, he attended Drexel University at night while working full-time and raising a family. His dedication and sacrifice enabled him to earn an engineering degree and build a successful career, serving as a Plant Manager for more than 25 years at several companies, primarily defense contractors.
More than any accomplishment, John was devoted to his family. Above all, he treasured the life he built with his wife, Janice, whose love and companionship were among his greatest blessings. He cherished his son, Andrew, and took immense pride in the man he is becoming. The bond they shared brought John great joy, and he treasured the time they spent together creating memories, celebrating milestones, and supporting one another through life's challenges. He also found great joy in rekindling his relationship with his daughter, Kristin. Walking her down the aisle on her wedding day was one of the most humbling and proud moments of his life. John loved traditions and understood the importance of creating moments that would become cherished memories. Family and friends were often greeted by his signature expression, "Top of the morning!", a simple phrase that perfectly reflected his warm spirit and positive outlook on life.
A devoted Roman Catholic, John's faith was the foundation of his life. One of his daily traditions was praying the Rosary on his drive to and from work, finding strength and comfort in his relationship with God.
John enjoyed an active life and had a passion for biking, running, tennis, basketball, woodworking, and fixing just about anything that needed repair. Of all his hobbies, however, golf held a special place in his heart. Whether on the course or at home with family, John found joy in the simple moments and the traditions that brought people together.
For more than three years, John faced cancer with remarkable courage, determination, and faith. Even as he endured significant pain and challenges, he continued to meet each day with resilience and optimism. The same strength that guided him throughout his life carried him through his illness. He rarely allowed cancer to define him, choosing instead to focus on his family, his faith, and the people he loved most.
John was preceded in death by his parents, John and Edna Convey, and his beloved daughter, Justine, who was stillborn.
He is survived by his loving wife, Janice, whom he married on December 28, 2001; his son, Andrew; his daughters, Kristin West and her husband, Ken, and Jaclyn; his siblings, Margie Secamiglio and her husband, Matt, Robert Convey and his wife, Diane, Luann, and Linda; along with many extended family members, friends, and loved ones who will miss him deeply.
John's legacy lives on in the lessons he taught, the traditions he cherished, and the love he gave so freely. He will be remembered for his faith, his strength, his kindness, and his unwavering devotion to family.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a viewing beginning at 10:00 a.m., followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 30, 2026, at St. Isidore Church, 2545 West Pumping Station Road, Quakertown, PA 18951. Interment will follow at St. John Neumann Cemetery.
