Jackson David (Bennett) Rhodes, 78, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, October 23, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.

Jack was born in Darby, Pennsylvania and graduated from West Catholic High School in 1965. He received his bachelor’s degree from San Francisco State University after proudly serving his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.

Throughout 55 years of marriage, Jack would say his greatest surprise in life was Nancy saying “Yes”. He described the moment he first saw her as “truly love at first sight.” Following his military service, their paths crossed again, and that first spark grew into a lifetime of love. He cherished raising his “darling Leah” and the time he spent with his grandchildren (and their friends!)

He was a devoted Philadelphia sports fan and spent many years coaching youth basketball and baseball. He was a mentor and “Pop Pop” to many of the kids he coached.

Jack had an incredible gift for storytelling, captivating those around him with his memories, humor, and ability to make even the simplest moments unforgettable. He leaves behind a lifetime of lessons, laughter, love, and stories that will continue to be shared for generations.

He was predeceased by his parents Jackson and Agnes Rhodes, his sisters Jeanne (Nick) DiEnno and Patricia (Peter) Lee.

He is survived by his adored wife, Nancy Rhodes (nee Roberts); their daughter, Leah Rhodes-Eve (Kristian); his grandchildren, Brendan Rhodes and Brielle Eve (Matt Ryan); his brother-in-law Ken (Cindy) Roberts and their daughter, Danielle Roberts, and his beloved eleven nieces and nephews. Jack loved his family deeply and each held a special place in his heart.

A military burial will be held at Washington Crossing National Cemetery 830 Highland Avenue Newtown, PA 18940, on Friday, November 13th from 1:00 to 1:15 PM.  A gathering to celebrate Jack’s life will follow at Leah and Kris’s home.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made to Vietnam Veterans of America in honor of Jack and his service to our country.
