It is with saddened hearts to announce the passing of Howard L. (Nunny) Welsh. Born March 18, 1936, to William H and Mildred (Baker) Welsh. Survived by sons Michael L (Sandi) and Steven M, his grandsons Kyle Michael (Laurie) and Travis Howard, eight great grandchildren, along with stepchildren and their families. Howard is also survived by his sister Arlene Michener.

He was preceded in death by his wives Joan (Hipwell) and Susan (Hoffman) as well as his siblings Bill, Jim, Charlie, Wes, Dolores, and Patty.

Howard was a proud lifelong resident of North Wales Borough, having delivered newspapers as a young boy and graduating from the last class at North Wales High School (1955) where he was an All-Star soccer player. Howard also was the longest living parishioner of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church having received all his sacraments there.

He was a machinist by trade and worked for Teleflex Inc for 40 years before retiring from Triumph Controls. Howard was instrumental in bringing UAW Local 1039 to the area and was a trustee for the credit union. He was proud to be an avid blood donor for the Red Cross. Many of the things he enjoyed were auto racing, NASCAR, being a true Phillies fan as well as the Nor-Gwyn Legion Baseball Teams. He also liked wood carving and relished telling great stories from the past, remembering every detail. Most of all upon retirement, he loved following his grandson’s sports and quarter midget racing.

Howard was a social member of the My Place Club and North Penn Fire Co., volunteering to make and sell hoagies. A nature lover, hunter and fishermen, he belonged to many various clubs including the Windy Bluff Gun Club, Souderton-Harleysville Game Fish and Forestry Assn., and the Monroeton Rod and Gun Club.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Rose of Lima 424 S. Main St. North Wales, PA 19454 on Saturday, September 20 at ll:00 am following the visitation beginning at 10:00 am. Arrangements are entrusted to Scanlin McDonald Funeral Home LTD.
