Gail E. (Goldman) Davenport, 74, of Philadelphia, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on August 31, 2026. Gail was the beloved wife of Robert Davenport for over 54 years; the loving mother of Dawn (Frank) Afonso and Christine Snyder; the proud grandmother of Emily Afonso, Gabrielle Snyder, and Sophia Snyder; and the caring sister of Gary (Cindy) Goldman and Glen (Cheryl) Goldman. Gail is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and friends whom she loved dearly. She was predeceased by her parents, Francis and Helen (Esbensen) Goldman.

Gail lived a life centered around caring for others. She had a natural compassion for people and always found ways to help those in need. Her dedication to caring for others was reflected in her work at Jeanes Hospital, followed by many years providing private-duty home care. She took great pride in helping others and brought kindness, patience, and genuine warmth to everyone in her care.

Gail grew up in Philadelphia and spent the majority of her life there. As a young girl, she enjoyed taking ballet classes in Center City, an experience that remained a fond part of her childhood memories. After many years in Philadelphia, Gail and her family moved to Jim Thorpe, Pennsylvania, where she lived for nearly 20 years before moving in with her daughter and son-in-law in Perkasie.

Gail's generosity extended far beyond her work. She had a special passion for helping families and children in need. She lovingly made shoeboxes for Samaritan's Purse, carefully filling them with gifts and necessities for children around the world. She also never hesitated to donate to families in need, always believing that even a small act of kindness could make a difference.

One of Gail's greatest joys was spending time with her granddaughters. She loved teaching them the everyday skills that she knew and cherished—how to cook, how to sew, and how to care for plants. Through these simple lessons, she passed down not only practical skills, but also her patience, creativity, and love. The memories made around the kitchen table, working on sewing projects, or tending to plants together will remain treasured reminders of the special bond they shared.

Gail will be remembered for her generous heart, her willingness to help others, and the quiet ways she made a difference in the lives of those around her. She believed in caring for people, giving what she could, and making others feel loved and supported. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by her family and by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Relatives and friends are invited to her celebration of life from 10AM – 11:30AM with a Prayer service beginning at 11:30 AM on Saturday, September 19, 2026, at Scanlin McDonald Funeral Home 175 East Butler Avenue Chalfont, PA 18914. Interment will be private.
