Elizabeth L. Reed, 91, of Chalfont, died peacefully on September 17, 2026. Born on October 12, 1934, in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late Thomas Reed and Elizabeth (Kelly) Reed.
Elizabeth, known as Bet, Betty, Betty Lou (much to her dismay), and most lovingly as AB, is survived by her brother Robert Reed, brother-in-law Joseph McErlean, and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, great-grandnieces, and great-grandnephews. She was predeceased by her siblings Barbara Renk, Thomas Reed, Margie McErlean and her beloved nephew Joe Renk.
While AB never married or had children of her own, we were all her children. She was the favorite babysitter for every generation, hosted countless family parties and kids’ sleepovers, organized family vacations, and was a proud member of the “Breakfast Club” at Zotos. She never said no to a Girls’ Night and loved a good Manhattan.
AB was a strong, faith-filled woman who stood shoulder to shoulder with her family through the good times, but especially through the bad times. She always seemed to know when we needed her most. She was our rock, our role model, and a constant source of love and strength.
AB leaves all of us with a legacy to carry on—a legacy of putting family first, filled with love, compassion, generosity, and doing good. Her love touched generations, and she will remain forever in the hearts of all who were lucky enough to call her AB.
Relatives and friends may call after 10:00 a.m. Friday, September 25, 2026, at St. Jude’s Church, 321 W. Butler Avenue, Chalfont, PA 18914, followed by the Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be St. John Neumann Cemetery. Arrangements are by Scanlin-McDonald Funeral Home.
