Edwin A. Bergin, Sr. "Bud" passed away on July 13, 2026, at the age of 90. Born in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late John J. Bergin, Sr. and Helen (nee Noonan). He honorably served his country in the United States Army (1961-1962). Edwin began his career as a transit clerk with a high school diploma at 1st National Bank of Philadelphia (later First Pennsylvania Bank). He worked up the ranks to manage over nine different bank branches over many decades. He was a strong supporter of the local community as a volunteer fire fighter at Ogontz Fire Company and as active parishioner at Saint James Church in Elkins Park. He was the husband of over 50 years to the late Rosemarie R. Bergin (nee Saracino) and father of Cynthia Bergin (Jason Hunter), Edwin “Ted” Bergin Jr. (Ingrid) and Thomas Bergin. Edwin achieved a central goal of his life by seeing each of his children through college. He is also survived by his grandchildren Lia and Elena Bergin, his brother John “Jack” Bergin Jr. his sister Dorothy O’Farrell and many loving nieces and nephews. In these recent years Edwin spent numerous hours as a volunteer to Hands in Service, Inc. helping disadvantaged communities. Memorial contributions in Edwin’s name can be made to Hands in Service, Inc (https://www.hisinc.org/donate.html). A funeral service will be held in October, with the specific date and details to be announced by the family once finalized. Please check back for updated funeral info.
