Douglas P. La Barr, 79, passed away on August 5, 2026. He was born on July 29, 1947, in Kingston, Pennsylvania, son of Harry LaBarr and Iris Payne LaBarr. He attended Dallas area public schools, and earned both a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree from Bloomsburg University.

Doug taught for thirty years in the Hatboro-Horsham School District. After his retirement, he was an independent painting contractor and worked as a driver for Manheim Auctions in Hatfield.

One of Doug’s greatest pleasures was racing vintage motorcycles. He amassed many trophies for points earned in many races, even if he was the only one in his class. He was an active member of the American Heritage Racing Motorcycle Association (AHRMA) nationally as well as AHRMA-Northeast.

Doug is survived by his wife, Mary; son Dusty LaBarr (Georgia), daughter Kate Vogel (Stephen), and grandchildren Brady Vogel, Quinn La Barr and Jude La Barr. His sister Donna (LaBarr) Kachmar preceded him in death, as did his wife Judith (Fox) LaBarr.

A funeral service will be held 3 PM Thursday August 13, 2026, at Scanlin McDonald Funeral Home 175 East Butler Avenue Chalfont, PA 18914. Relatives and friends are invited to the funeral home Thursday after 2 PM. Interment Private.
