Donald J. Higgins, 87, passed away on June 18, 2025. Husband of the late Anita (nee Swiren). Father of Lisa Stenderowicz (Chuck), Craig Rehrer (Deb), Marsha Rehrer (Craig Z.) and Sheila “Rehrer” Wilson. Grandfather of Sheena, Brett, Sean (Maddie), Sara, Skyler, Lindsay (Dan) and Brittany (Zac). Great grandfather of Remi. Also survived by his loving brother Sean Higgins (Catherine), sister-in-law Frannie, and his niece and nephews: Teddy, Shane, Kelley (Jeff), Kevin (Rachel) and Seanie (Ashley), as well as his great nieces and nephews Jessica, Daniel, Connor, Jeremy, Dillon, Olivia, Mitchell and Brooke. 

He was predeceased by his parents (Dominic and Mary (nee McFadden) Higgins), and siblings Marilyn and Teddy.

Don was born and raised in Philadelphia. As a child he attended St. Madeline Sophie Roman Catholic Church. When he was 17 he enlisted in the Marines and was a member of the 3rd Marine Division stationed at South Camp Fuji and Okinawa in Japan. Most of his career he worked for the U.S. Postal Service, and after retirement he worked at Precision Auto & Tire where he enjoyed comradery with fellow employees and customers. And it kept him busy. Family, religion, and politics were important to him. He enjoyed Saturday breakfasts and Sunday and Tuesday dinners with family, and attended as many of the games and events of the family children as he could. He took his civic responsibility seriously, always voting and frequently calling and writing district and state representatives to share his opinion. Don was a charitable man, donating frequently and generously to many causes throughout his life.

Don’s family is grateful for the care he received from his physicians as well as that of the Doylestown Hospital staff.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral to be held Tuesday June 24 at St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church 1795 Columbia Ave, Warrington, PA 18976. Family greeting and viewing 9:30-10:30 with Funeral Mass starting at 10:30 AM. Interment will follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
