Clara A. Smith, 91, passed away peacefully on May 25, 2026. Born in Morgantown, Clara treasured her hometown and always loved returning to visit family, friends, and the place that held so many special memories throughout her life.

A loving wife, devoted mother, proud grandmother, and great-grandmother, Clara’s greatest joy was her family and dear friends. She especially loved the holidays and opening her home to those she loved. Through her warmth, generosity, and traditions, she created cherished memories that her family continues to carry on today.

Clara loved cooking and was an amazing cook who brought people together around her table. Alongside her beloved husband Bob, she especially enjoyed hosting elegant dinner parties for family and friends, creating evenings filled with wonderful food, laughter, and conversation. She enjoyed sharing stories, laughter, and jokes over cocktails with loved ones, creating moments that will be fondly remembered by all who knew her. She brought joy wherever she went and was an inspiration to many on how to live a fun, meaningful, and full life.

Clara also loved games and friendly competition. She enjoyed playing poker and cards with family and friends and, more recently, loved playing Rummikub and winning at bingo, which always brought her great excitement and laughter.

An avid antique collector, Clara filled her home on Pebble Ridge Road in Doylestown with beautiful antiques that she lovingly displayed for others to enjoy as well. She was a longtime member of the Questers antique club and took great pride in preserving and sharing the beauty and history of the pieces she collected over the years.

Clara was a devoted member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, where she faithfully served as a Eucharistic Minister to the sick and homebound. She also dedicated many years to volunteer service within the community. Clara was a longtime member of Doylestown Health Community, serving as a hospital volunteer beginning in 1980, and joined the VIA in 2002. She truly enjoyed a long career as a professional volunteer and found the work deeply rewarding. She often said that volunteering helped her appreciate how fragile life can be and reminded her of the importance of compassion and kindness.

Of all of her accomplishments in life, Clara was most delighted to be called “Mom,” and she was immensely proud of her family. Clara always had a beautiful outlook on life. She loved life, loved people, and above all loved her family. Her mantra was simple but meaningful: be kind, be a good listener, and be nice to everyone. Those who knew her will remember her gentle spirit, caring heart, and the warmth she shared so freely with others.

Clara was the beloved wife of the late Robert L. Smith and loving mother of Sharon Hawk (Eric), Linda Lipschutz (Jay), and Michelle Shire (Patrick).

She was the cherished grandmother of Eric Hawk, Jr., the late Robert Hawk, Haley Lipschutz, Adam Lipschutz, Ryan Shire, and Brandon Shire, and proud great-grandmother of Dalton Hawk, Colton Hawk, and Hayden Hawk.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 AM on Tuesday, June 2, 2026, at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church located in Doylestown. Relatives and friends are invited to the church starting at 9:30 AM for visitation prior to the funeral mass. Interment will follow at Whitemarsh Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, donations to Doylestown Health Foundation in Clara’s memory would be appreciated.
