Adelbert “Dell” Campbell, 83, of New Britain, PA passed away on May 18, 2025. He graduated high school from St. Joseph’s Preparatory School in Philadelphia and received his Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering from Villanova University. He was a retired Army Lieutenant Colonel and Green Beret, and served in the Coast Guard Auxiliary toward the end of his life.
Dell had many interests and talents. Throughout the years, he was a member of the American Legion, the Greater Wildwood Yacht Club, the Pennsylvania Society of Professional Engineers, the Delaware Valley Bird Club, the Lenape Valley Softball league, among others. He raised canaries for years, played the accordion, gardened, loved boating and visiting the Jersey Shore, and for decades, he played bagpipes with the Philadelphia Emerald Society Pipe Band, as well as for countless weddings, parties, and funerals.
He is survived by his wife Mary (nee Lenaghan), his children Maureen Campbell Schoenfeld (Carl Schoenfeld), Eileen Campbell (Stephen Strano) and Cathleen Campbell (Gerald Beyer), and by his grandchildren Robert Long, Carl Max Schoenfeld, and Oscar Schoenfeld. He will be deeply missed.
Funeral Mass will be held Tuesday, May 27, 2025 at St. Margaret of Antioch Church, 208 N. Narberth Avenue, Narberth, PA 19072. Relatives and friends are invited for a viewing at the Church starting at 9:30 AM. Mass will begin at 10:30 AM. Dell will be laid to rest at Calvary Cemetery, 2025 Old Gulph Rd, Villanova, PA 19085 following the Mass. In lieu of flowers, donations to Lazarus House https://lazarushouseministries.org or Allentown Rescue Mission https://www.allentownrescuemission.org would be greatly appreciated.
